The Three Notch Trail is now 3 miles longer and has been since the spring. That makes it about 7 miles long.The next section is scheduleded for 2014.
The next step is to connect the trail through the old downtown of Mechanicsville, said Phil Rollins, director of the St. Mary’s County Department of Recreation and Parks....Once the Mechanicsville section is complete, the Three Notch Trail would stretch uninterrupted for 11 miles from Laurel Grove to the Charles County line and should be a popular biking destination...The town of Hancock in western Maryland has been rejuvenated by a trail with accompanying bike shops and restaurants...The Three Notch Trail may revitalize a business at Laurel Grove as well. The Laurel Grove Station, which actually used to be a railroad depot, will be reopening this fall as a family sports bar and grill
