City Paper's Best Local Bike Blog 2009
LOL, it's not that bad. You need to post some sort of chart tracking psychological stress of cycling vs. driving: being boxed in a cramped steel cage (which is the case even for a luxury car), driving on a high-speed road where insane drivers are weaving through traffic at 20 mph faster than the speed limit, other roads where cars are stopped in rush-hour traffic, etc.
To be fair, there is the concern among cyclists for encountering some of those same wild drivers at intersections and on some bike-accessible local roads.
Just set up with Bar Mitts/Moose Mitts, a few layers of clothing, a nice beanie or balaclava and cyclists should be OK with our mild winters. Fortunately we don't get day after day of sub-10F conditions that some places do up north.
Year-round bikeshare, yeah! Can't do that in Minneapolis or Ottawa.

Spring and Fall = Rain. I guess that's why it is blue.

Couldn't agree more with the graphic. Had my lobster mitts on today for the 1st time this season, and was wishing for something over my ears. Won't be long before the snowboard helmet and goggles come out =(
But hey, at least with my new commute I won't have to go up or down the hills of Northwest. I have clear memories of harrowing descents and ascents on 16th watching for ice patches or errant hillocks of salt.

This is why WABA does Bike to Work Day in the Spring. And yes, it rains half the time.
