They're putting in a skate park, redoing the basketball court, and straightening out the trail.

There is a passable detour, but in typical PG County fashion (paying no attention to the needs of trail users) it is unmarked. A left (going in the direction the video is shot) 200 feet prior to the construction and then the first right will bring you back to the traffic light to cross RI Ave.

It is an intended detour because it is shown on the MNCPPC press release touting the addition of the new park but unless you happen to have a copy of the press release in your back pocket you are stuck with the CX route.

In my opinion, the CX route is smoother! (Detour alley has some massive potholes and gravel slicks.)
