Good morning
- Martin Austermuhle breaks the story (well, two weeks after they posted it on their website - but whatever, I didn't know about it) that DC might be only a few weeks away from finishing a deal on a velodrome. Not sure where, but JDLand thinks - based on the drawing's similarities to the block between 2nd and 1st at V Street - that it's probably headed for the open land across from the Coast Guard HQ at Buzzards Point. No word on when it will open.
- New CaBi stations installed at 9th and Upshur NW and 1st and Rhode Island NW.
Right near the CaBi warehouse... CaBi pursuit, match sprints, six-days?

I'm disappointed that the CaBi Hains Point Time trial series never got off the ground.

CaBi 30-minute trials on the track! With required dismount and docking before the 30 min mark, of course.

We can always add checking out the bike into the Le Mans-style start.

let's start a CaBi pro tour -- when the bikes come to Alexandria, incorporate Old Town's cobbled streets into a spring classic CaBi-DelRaix

So, the plan is to bike to the velodrome in the open air with the sights and sounds of the city all around you to get a chance to bike around in circles in a dark, noisy building. Did I get that right?

or, bike to the velodrome in the open air with the sights and sounds of the city all around you to get a chance to compete against other like-minded souls on your bike in a safe, closed setting, perhaps with your family and friends cheering you on.
Or bike to the velodrome to watch Olympic athletes competing in a discipline that you would otherwise have to drive 3+ hours to see.

I don't think it's enclosed. It doesn't appear to be in the drawing.

I was kind of hoping to see a permanent CaBi cyclocross course in DC. Now that would be awesome!
But the velodrome could be interesting too.

This site is literally across the street from where I work (I pass by it on my commute every day). I can look down on it from the 5th floor windows. The lot has been vacant quite a number of years now, having once held some kind of silo long since razed and removed. This is going to be interesting.
