Good morning. If the weather prognosticators are to be trusted, there should be some sort of snow on the ground.
- Capital Bikeshare is aiming for the Cherry Blossom Festival to roll out the five National Mall stations. "the service has submitted the plan to the National Capital Planning Commission and the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts for approval, said National Mall spokeswoman Carol Johnson. If both commissions sign off, she said, the park service would issue a permit and the stations could be added."
- Three meetings or hearings that matter to cyclists are coming up in Montgomery County. One on Parks, another on the Capital Crescent Trail and a third on the budget.
- Bike Virginia Chairman and Eric Cantor supporter Thomas L. Bowden, Sr. writes about why calling Cantor a hypocrit for riding a bike on "60 Minutes" was unproductive. " Without facts and serious arguments, you definitely won’t change Cantor’s mind. And you won’t even get the chance to make your point if all you want to do is try to look clever at his expense." Perhaps that's true, but Cantor hasn't exactly dealt in facts or serious arguments on this issue in the past.

Taxi drivers have licenses?

I'm really impressed how the leadership of WABA has really stepped up their advocacy. Going and talking to the Taxicab Commission is real advocacy, and advocacy for cyclists -- the people. In the past I have been critical of WABA for advocating for "bicycling" the idea rather than cyclists the people, and emphasizing things like facilities and process. So this is a welcome change. This kind of advocacy is tedious and not glamorous, but it's where real change happens.

Aw, Hell yes. Will there be a "road test" component to the bicycling section of the licensing process?
:)
