Please join Mayor Vincent C. Gray and Federal agency partners in celebrating the release of the draft Sustainable DC Vision Plan and the opening of a new bridge on the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.
Sustainable DC is Mayor Gray’s initiative to make the District of Columbia the greenest, healthiest, and most livable city in the nation. The draft vision plan and corresponding legislative package will lay out the Mayor’s twenty year vision for creating a more sustainable city that ensures a clean environment, a diverse economy and reduces disparities for residents.
The Anacostia Riverwalk Trail – and the new bridge - supports that vision. Located west of the Anacostia River just north of the John Philip Sousa Bridge, the trail bridge is a much-anticipated connection over the CSX railroad tracks between S. Capitol Street and Benning Road. The Riverwalk is a key component of the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative’s efforts to create a world class waterfront in our Nation’s Capitol and will ultimately provide 20 miles of seamless trails along both sides of the river between the Tidal Basin in the District of Columbia and Bladensburg Park in Maryland.

I am ridiculously excited for this bridge to open. It's going to make a great connection for a terrific Hill loop.

Waiting to hear something about the path connecting further north through the Arboretum. Good news is the bridge on the east bank spanning the same tracks is also under construction.

Is anyone else getting the rightmost side of the text blocked by the "Categories" column?

I've heard that it's usable right now, with a bit of flexibility.

That would be a shocker. I was there on Saturday and they were still adding railing and had jersey barriers in places.
