I didn't attend this meeting so these notes are from the official mintues and my edit may be filled with errors.
Custis Trail realignment near Lee Highway and Uhle - Antunovich Associates plans to redevelop the Bermans site at 2415 Lee Highway, creating a small grocery story and housing. The Custis trail passes on the northeast side of the project (along the south edge of I-66) and a connector trail runs along Lee Highway on the south side of the project. The two intersect at the SE corner of the site. Arlington County wants to shift this intersection to the west. The developer wants to leave it as is and construct a winding path from the Custis to the Lee Highway sidewalk. Meeting attendees supported the Arlington County position since they felt the new intersection would provide more visibility and didn't like the winding path. There was also discussion about how to manage bike and foot traffic on the Lee Highway sidewalk and about the ideal locations for bike parking.
Trail signage - some new trail signs have been installed for the purpose of assessing possible designs. And CaBi is considering some kind of wayfinding signs to allow riders to get from the CaBi station to trails or routes
Parking - Arlington County installed 40 bike racks in February. Arlington County is looking to develop some mechanism to encourage bike parking at commercial spaces. There are no current zoning requirements for bike parking. An alternative strategy would be to come up with a way to encourage bike parking partnership where the commercial spaces voluntarily embraced bike parking.
Bike lanes - County staff is working with VDOT on adding bike lanes on Washington Blvd between Longfellow and Kentucky.
