At the Montgomery County Planning Board meeting on Monday, planning staff will present the scope of work for the Bethesda Purple Line Station Minor Master Plan Amendment. The Amendment show what the Purple Line & Capital Crescent Trail tunnel would look like in the event of "the timely redevelopment of the Apex Building." Without that the CCT will need to come out of the tunnel - though a narrow pedestrian path will remain. However, if the Apex building is redeveloped, then the trail can continue, under Wisconsin through a tunnel and then along the southern edge of the concourse.
I'm no expert at reading these drawings, but it appears the trail would have it's own access to the Purple Line and have a sidewalk along it for part of the way.
WOW! This is great to see! Hopefully they are not just pulling the other leg this time like they did when they first said they would leave the trail in the tunnel :)

I have blogged on this issue a couple of times in the past. Redeveloping both buildings might actually be the most economic way to go about it:
