As mentioned last summer, the Anacostia Streetcar extension project was narrowed to 2 alternatives, one of which - alternative #9 includes a multi-use path along the side of it. The final EA is now out.
This is for the extension from the Anacostia Metro station to Good Hope Road. While Alternative 9 makes the trail possible, the EA points out that
For Alternative 9, a proposed multi-use trail along a portion of the CSX railroad right-of-way would travel parallel to the DC Streetcar. The trail would improve neighborhood connectivity for pedestrians and bicyclists in the community and to transit facilities. DDOT is still conducting conceptual design on this multi-use trail. The trail is not part of this proposed action.
I suspect that means that the trail will be built separately. Alternative 4, on the other hand
would travel on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE and could pose design conflicts with a signed bicycle route on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE.
The EA mentions that the project includes pedestrian and bicycle facility improvements, but not what those are. There is also a section on Bicycle Safety that focuses mainly on education.
