The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will hold a public information update meeting about the design for the Oxon Run Trail Rehabilitation Project.
When: Thursday, May 15, 2014 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Where: Petey Greene Center, 2907 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, SE
The purpose of this project is to improve access within Oxon Run Park and expand the surrounding bike and pedestrian network by renovating the existing trails as well as extending the trail network. Oxon Run Park is a central open-space area in Southeast D.C., which features miles of disconnected trails that are currently in need of repair. The trail will be an important non-motorized transportation route that will provide direct access from neighborhoods near the Southern Avenue Metro Station to attractions in the District such as the Bald Eagle Recreation Center and points south such as Oxon Cove Park and Oxon Hill Farm and the National Harbor in Maryland. The trail network will eventually connect to South Capitol Street corridor, neighborhoods adjacent to the Anacostia River and Downtown D.C.
