That little bitty bit right along the white line is probably out of the reach of most doors for cars parked correctly. That's where I ride anyway, but it does seem odd that infrastructure would encourage cyclists to ride in dangerous spaces.

I'm not thrilled with door zone bike lanes either, but I like them better than sharrows ("shared lanes"). I get to compare the two almost daily on Commonwealth Ave in Alexandria. It's a step forward and is good to see.
