I'll just point out that one important aspect of the purpose built child trailer is the roll cage, so that if there is an accident, the kid doesn't land on their head, and there is at least some aluminum tubing designed to hit the road first.
Ironically, a child trailer can also work as a cargo trailer, but the inverse is not the case.
