As part of its Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan Update, the City of Alexandria created a Progress and Existing Conditions Report. The existing conditions portion shows that Alexandria has nearly 52 miles of bike facilities right now
And count data from counts collected concurrently with pedestrian counts during the months of January, May, July and September, during the hours of 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m show that the Mt. Vernon Trail is heavily used. 71% of observed cyclists were male.
Those are total bicyclists counted during 2 two-hour time spans 4 day a year?
Would average daily use be about double those figures then?
