When he was Vice-President, Hubert H. Humphrey lived right where the Georgetown Branch and Rock Creek Park Trails intersect in this house at 3216 Coquelin Terrace, Chevy Chase, but alas, there were no bike trails then. Poor HHH.
Anyway, that was the first time that a VP had a local address that was outside of DC - for those who are intrigued by such things.
BTW, his next door neighbor was the person who beat him in the 1972 Democratic primary - George McGovern.

Makes for awkward neighborhood get-togethers.

HHH subsequently moved to the Southwest Waterfront, which is a pleasant and short bike ride away from the West Wing.
His successor, Spiro Agnew, apparently lived in Bethesda's Kenwood neighborhood, just off the Capitol Crescent Trail. Alexandria resident Gerald Ford was the *last* VP with a local address outside of DC; Nelson Rockefeller never lived at the Observatory, but commuted from within DC.
