Last April, the bicycle/pedestrian bridge over the railroad tracks in Berwyn Heights was damaged by a Metro contractor with an entire center span knocked down rendering the bridge unusable. According to the May 2015 issue of the Berwyn Heights Bulletin, the bridge was to be closed for 6-8 months while repairs were carried out. But it looks like that isn't going to happen. According to former College Park City Councilman Robert Catlin, the replacement beam was ordered some time ago and was to arrive in October, with installation completed this month. Then that slipped to delivery this month and completion next month (which would be 8 months from May, the most generous way to read the original prediction). But now it appears that the beam will not arrive until March, with construction complete in April.
Happy Holidays!
Bummer, this is an especially useful connection in winter when the MNCPPC trails are unplowed.

5/10/2016 The replacement is in place but the bridge is not open to the public. I don't why.
