Scheduled for next week at the L'Enfant Plaza Club Room (oh, a club....)
The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to express their views on the possible replacement of the Long Bridge (an existing railroad bridge) over the Potomac River in Washington, DC. Long Bridge currently serves freight, intercity passenger (Amtrak) and commuter rail (Virginia Railway Express) providers. The meeting will focus on the project’s history, development of the purpose and need, early development of conceptual alternatives, and the preliminary environmental and socioeconomic resources identified within the study area at this early stage of the project.
You may recall that in 2013 DDOT proposed 10 alternatives for replacing the Long Bridge, four of which included a new bike crossing of the Potomac. Then in 2014, they won a TIGER grant for a NEPA study of the bridge.
