You can see a map of the proposed trail at https://alexandriava.gov/localmotion/info/default.aspx?id=83038. The trail would go past the waste treatment plant and connect on the east end at Payne Street. (Years ago, before the expansion of the waste treatment plant, there was a trail that connected Payne with Holland Lane. Part of the trail from Payne is still there.) Heading north on Payne will bring you to the nearly complete Wilkes Street Neighborhood Bikeway http://alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/ProjectImplementation/info/Wilkes%20Street%20Bicycle%20Facilities%20Plans.pdf and http://www.alexandriava.gov/uploadedFiles/localmotion/info/gettingaround/Complete%20Streets%20Graphics(1).pdf. Heading east on Wilkes will get you to Union Street and the Mount Vernon Trail.

Old Cameron Run is a big deal for Alexandria. When we do counts of people riding, we get numbers for Holmes Run (west of this area) that are much lower than anything we count along the Mt Vernon Trail or in Old Town (east of this area). Connecting the Holmes Run Trail network to the Old Town street grid should make a big difference.
