Following their 6th and final work session, the Montgomery County Planning Board voted to transmit the Planning Board Draft of the Bicycle Master Plan to the County Council and County Executive. That will get a council public hearing on July 10th and should be approved and adopted this upcoming fall.
In the May meeting, Planning Staff recommended only one change, the removal of the Willard Ave sidepath between River Road and the Willard Avenue Trail (circled in blue)
The Brookdale Community Association requested that this bikeway be removed, since it would likely require removing on-street parking in a residential community. Planning staff supports removing this bikeway since an existing parallel path is located in the Willard Avenue Neighborhood Park, a short distance away.
The plan is extensive and really, too big to cover in a post. You can see the Bikeway Recommendations here, and the full plan here. Below is an example of all the facilities planned for just one region. Like DC's it's very ambitious, but ambition is only the first part of the process. They have to actually build it out.
