When it's my turn to pull up and pay, I'm told curtly to step to the side. I'm a bit confused, but I figured they had to do my order special or something (it was a double stack, nothing fancy). So I step to the side and a few cars get their orders and go happily on their way. At this point I walked over to ask how long she thought my burger would be. This time the employee told me to get out of the way, I was blocking customers, they are on a timer system, and some other stuff I didn't catch, and she called over her manager. At this point I realized she had no intention of serving me. I wish I could say I didn't get frustrated and let loose a string of profanities at this point, but I'd been waiting 10 minutes and, well, I did. The manager came over and politely informed me that they don't accept walk up orders. I told him that I had placed my order at the drive up and waited in line like everyone else. He said he was sorry, but reiterated they did not take walk up orders. I asked why the other employee hadn't just told me that, and he just apologized, so I left.
I seem to remember a similar issue at a different location involving pedestrians when the inside counter was closed. I like how he says no "walk up orders" when clearly the guy wasn't walking up.
I think the best thing to keep in mind is that the Burger King on Florida Avenue (the one very near the Metropolitan Branch Trail) is not cycling friendly and maybe you should keep that in mind.
